The Holy Cross women's soccer team is back in action with two non-conference games this week. The Crusaders will travel to Fairfield on Thursday, Sept. 2, at 6:00 p.m., and then play host to Bryant on Sunday, Sept. 5, at 1:00 p.m.
Things to Know About the Crusaders (0-4, 0-0 Patriot League):
• Holy Cross is off to an 0-4 start so far this year, and is coming off a 4-0 setback at Brown on Sunday.
• During last Friday's game at Dartmouth, the Crusaders scored a season-high two goals. Sophomore forward
Samantha Adams and junior forward
Colleen McIlvenna scored against the Big Green, with both of them notching their first goal in a Holy Cross uniform.
• Freshman goalkeeper
Olivia Dubin has started all four games so far this season, posting a .783 save percentage with 36 saves, including a career-high 19 saves against UMass Lowell in the season opener. She currently leads the Patriot League and ranks third in the nation with an average of 9.0 saves per game.
Scouting the Stags (2-2, 0-0 MAAC):
• Fairfield enters the game with an overall mark of 2-2 on the season. The Stags have beaten Long Island and UMass Lowell, while falling to Harvard and Northeastern.
• Senior midfielder Gabby Diodati leads the team in scoring with four goals for eight points in four games played this season. She has now totaled 44 points on 13 goals and 18 assists in her collegiate career.
• Junior Gena Pike has started all four of Fairfield's game in goal, posting a 2.29 goals against average with nine saves.
Scouting the Bulldogs (0-2, 0-0 NEC):
• Bryant has an 0-2 record on the year, and will face Massachusetts on Sept. 2 prior to the game with the Crusaders. The Bulldogs dropped their first two games to Binghamton and Maine.
• Senior forward Katie Cronin has scored Bryant's lone goal so far this year. Over the course of her career, she now has 14 points on six goals and two assists.
• Junior Jessica Rinaldi has played every minute in goal for the Bulldogs this season, recording a 2.00 goals against average with eight saves.
Series History with Fairfield:
• The Stags holds a 10-1-2 lead in the all-time series between the schools.
• The last game between the teams came on Sept. 14, 2015, when Fairfield posted a 2-1 victory at home.
Series History with Bryant:
• Holy Cross owns a 6-4-1 advantage in the all-time series between the schools, including three victories in the last four meetings.
• The teams last played on Sept. 5, 2019, when the Crusaders won 1-0 in Smithfield. Mariah Brown scored the only goal of the game, while
Sophia Lettieri posted a shutout with four saves.
