WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross head men's soccer coach
Marco Koolman has announced the addition of five new student-athletes to his program in the fall of 2021. The class includes
Nick Hupe,
Evans Jones,
Jon Klein,
Jad Smaira and
Jake Williams.
"The incoming class is made up of players with a very high soccer IQ and passion for the game," said Koolman. "Their diverse background adds what we have been looking for in combination with our current players. The contribution they will provide will bring a greater balance and add to our defense and attack. I'm looking forward to welcoming this class of talented players."

Nick Hupe
D, 6-1, 176
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Gems World Academy
• Played for head coach Stephane Helies at the Gems World Academy in Dubai, United Arab Emirates
• Served as a team captain during his junior and senior seasons
• Named his team's Player of the Year in both his sophomore and junior seasons
• Led team to back-to-back division championships
• Scored seven goals as a junior, after netting five goals as a sophomore
• Also a member of the golf team
• Played club soccer for the Dubai City Football Club
Evan Jones
F, 5-9, 170
West Hartford, Conn.
William H. Hall High School
• Played for head coach Zeke Seguro at William H. Hall High School in West Hartford, Conn.
• Served as a team captain during his senior year
• Team was ranked No. 1 in both Connecticut and New England, and No. 6 in the nation
• Led team to the 2019 Class LL state championship and an undefeated season in 2020
• Earned All-America and All-New England honors as a senior
• A two-time All-State and All-Conference selection
• Totaled 65 goals and 35 assists during his high school career
• Played club soccer for the Farmington Sports Arena Football Club
Jon Klein
M, 5-10, 160
Natick, Mass.
Buckingham Browne & Nichols School
• Played for head coach Jesse Sarzana at the Buckingham Browne & Nichols School in Cambridge, Mass.
• Served as a team captain during his senior year
• Earned All-Independent School League and All-New England Preparatory School Athletic Council honors in 2019
• Totaled 18 goals and 12 assists during the 2019 season, to rank second in the Independent School League in points
• Also a member of the track, basketball and football teams
• Played club soccer for the Boston Bolts
• Selected to play for Team USA at the 2019 FC Bayern Youth Cup, where he recorded three goals and three assists while leading the team to the championship

Lycée Libanais Francophone Privé
• Played for head coach Paul Valentin at Lycée Libanais Francophone Privé in Dubai, United Arab Emirates
• Served as a team captain during his sophomore, junior and senior seasons
• Selected as his team's Most Valuable Player following his junior year
• Scored five goals as a junior
• Played club soccer for the Dubai City Football Club, helping the team to the Dubai Super Cup trophy
Jake Williams
M, 5-9, 160
Wellington, New Zealand
Scots College
• Attended Scots College in Wellington, New Zealand
• Spent the 2019 fall semester at the Northfield Mount Hermon School in Mount Hermon, Mass., via the Scots College exchange program
• Helped lead Northfield Mount Hermon to a 14-0-3 record and the Dunbar Cup championship
• Played for multiple club teams in New Zealand, including Wellington Phoenix Academy, Tasman United, Miramar Rangers and Team Wellington
• A member of the New Zealand under-17 national team which won the 2017 Oceania Football Confederation championship
• Recorded one goal and two assists in four games at the 2017 Oceania Football Confederation championship
