Women's soccer set to travel to Army Friday

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's soccer team will play its first away game of the season when it travels to Army for a 6 p.m. contest on Friday, March 26.

Things to Know About the Crusaders (1-1, 1-1 PL):
  • The Crusaders are coming off a tough 1-0 defeat to Boston University where senior goalie Sophia Lettieri shined, making nine saves, but Holy Cross' offense was only able to generate four shots on the day.
  • On the season, Lettieri has a .882 save percentage with her 7.5 saves per game as the top mark in the Patriot League.
  • The team's goals, both coming in the season opener, were by Lexi Ansaldi and Katie Quinn. Quinn leads the team with five shots on the year.
  • Caroline Harkins and Avery Gardner have each played every minute in both of the Crusaders' first two games as integral parts of the team's defensive back line.
Things to Know About the Black Knights (4-0, 3-0 PL):
  • The Black Knights are coming off a 5-0 victory over American that saw Erynn Johns score twice and assist once, while keeper Sydney Cassalia was only required to make one save.
  • Army has yet to allow a goal in its four games this season, outscoring its opposition 11-0, including Patriot League opponents Boston University (2-0), Lehigh (1-0), and American (5-0).
  • Johns was the first player this year to score multiple goals, as all other of the Black Knights' strikes have come from different players.
  • In those three Patriot League contests, Army has only allowed eight shots on goal.
Last Time They Met:
  • After tying 1-1 in the regular season last year, Holy Cross and Army met again in the Patriot League Semifinals.
  • The Black Knights took the lead in the 26th minute, but the Crusaders answered back just three minutes into the second half on a strike by Sydney Fisher. Lauren Drysdale would find the game-winner in the 67th minute for Army to advance to the championship game.
  • While Holy Cross trails in the all-time series 8-19-6, over the last seven games the Crusaders hold the advantage at 3-1-3, with the only loss coming in last year's semifinal.
