WORCESTER, Mass.— The Holy Cross field hockey team fell to Boston University, 6-1, at Hart Turf Field on Senior Day. The Crusaders close out their season at 6-10 overall and 1-5 in the Patriot League, while the Terriers end the season at 4-14 overall and 2-4 in the Patriot League.
Prior to the game the Crusaders celebrated the careers of their five-member senior class including,
Keely Smith,
Lily Watson,
Caitlin Little,
Anna Vrountas and
Kerri Bolivar.
Junior
Emily Dionne tallied the lone Crusader goal in the fourth quarter, the first of her career, off a tip out front off the corner. Smith was credited with the assist. Holy Cross held the Terriers scoreless during the first frame, but allowed six unanswered BU goals in the final three quarters, before Dionne's goal broke the shutout.
Sophomore
Brooke Ross made seven saves and junior
Emma Lauber added on four. Bolivar was credited with a defensive save, her second of the season.
The 2021 season is now complete for the Crusaders.
