WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's soccer team was narrowly defeated in overtime by American, 1-0. The Crusaders outshot the Eagles, 13-9, and recorded five shots on goal but were unable to convert.

Holy Cross (1-9, 1-3 PL) held dominant in the first half with a 7-3 shot advantage and a 7-0 lead in corner kick opportunities. The following 45 saw continued Crusader pressure with a 6-2 shot differential.

In overtime, American (1-7-2, 1-2-1 PL) sustained the majority of possession and earned four shots. With under four minutes of overtime to play, American's Oliver Price headed in a deflected ball after Taj Salawu made a goal line save.

Koolman on the Game:

“I thought we started the game very well, and the in the first half we played very well along with parts of the second half. Then we started to let it slip away a little bit, but still I thought we had plenty of chances and opportunities to finish the game. In close games and in overtime, it's a one mistake kind of deal and you'd like to be on top of it at that stage. With everything the boys have given this week, I'd like to see them rewarded with another 'W' but unfortunately that wasn't the case today.”
