Women's soccer takes on Boston University Wednesday

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's soccer team will travel to Boston University for a crucial Patriot League matchup Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The Crusaders and Terriers are currently tied for seventh in the conference, just on the outside looking in of the playoff picture. A win by either team would go a long way in helping to secure a postseason berth.

After Wednesday's contest, each side will have two games remaining. BU still has to face league-leading Navy as well as sixth-place Lafayette, both on the road. Holy Cross will also take on Lafayette in addition to fifth-place Bucknell. Unlike the Terriers, the Crusaders will play each of their final two games at home.

Things to know about Holy Cross (3-3-7, 1-1-4 PL):
  • Last time out, Holy Cross fell for the first time in 11 games, and the first time this season in conference action, 1-0, to Lehigh. The Crusaders put more shots on goal than the Mountain Hawks, 5-4, but weren't able to tie things up after Lehigh scored in the sixth minute.
  • Holy Cross will look to get back on track and rediscover the success it had during its ten-game unbeaten streak. The Crusaders outscored their opponents 10-4 during that span.
Things to know about Boston University (5-9-2, 2-3-1 PL):
  • The Terriers' season has been one of streaks. After a season-opening tie at Denver, they lost their next five games. BU then found its footing a bit and rattled off four wins in a row. Now, the Terriers have not scored a goal since Oct. 2 at Army in a 1-0 win and has gone 0-3-1 since then, losing its most recent three.
  • BU owns the all-time series over the Crusaders at 9-3-0. The Terriers won last year's matchup in Worcester, 3-0, as Anna Heilferty scored twice.
  • On the season, Ashley Raphael leads the team with two goals and an assist for five points. Morgan Messner and Amanda Fay have split time in goal with Fay holding the slight edge in stats with a 1.11 goals against average and a .814 save percentage.
