WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's soccer team dropped a nail-biter, 1-0, to Colgate Wednesday evening in Hamilton, N.Y.
The game remained scoreless until the 87th minute when Colgate's Sage DiGiulio played a long ball to teammate Emily Amano who was able to settle it and find the back of the net. The Crusaders would spend the remaining three minutes pressing, but just weren't able to get the equalizer.
The loss drops Holy Cross to 4-11 on the year and 2-5 in conference action. Colgate improves to 10-2-3 and 6-0-1. Coming in to the game, the Raiders may have been the favorite based purely on record, but the Crusaders didn't let that faze them as they battled hard for the full 90 minutes.
Holy Cross is back in action this Sunday, Oct. 21 when they travel to Army.
