  •  The Lead: Holy Cross freshman goalkeeper Caroline Cashion stopped eight shots as the Crusaders took a 2-0 loss to UMass on Monday afternoon in Worcester.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  •  Despite a total of seven shots on goal from either side in the first half, neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first 45 minutes of play.
  • Minutewoman forward Salma Anastasio had the best chance for UMass in the 18th minute with a rocket from the top of the box, but Cashion was able to knock it down and make the save.
  • Sophomore forward Andj Seslija had one of the best scoring chances for the Crusaders in the 36th minute, but her low shot was held by UMass goalkeeper Cassidy Babin.
  • Forward Megan Burke made it 1-0 for the Minutewomen in the 69th minute, as she scored off a cross to center field.
  • UMass gained a 2-0 advantage when forward Rebecca Frisk was able to work her way into the box and found the back of the net.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Cashion made eight saves in the loss for the Crusaders.
  • Babin made four saves in net for UMass to earn the win.
  • The Minutewomen outshot Holy Cross 15-7, and led in shots on net 10-4.
  • Seslija led the Crusaders with two shots.
