Crusader Athletics Fund Celebrates Another Record-Breaking Year

WORCESTER, Mass. – During the 2015-2016 academic year, the Crusader Athletics Fund saw historic increases in participation and gifts in support of Holy Cross Athletics. Over the last 12 months, the Crusader Athletics Fund set new records in annual funds raised – $1.63-million and total donors – 4,374, with both marks up from their 2014-2015 all-time highs. The record-breaking year represented an 18 percent increase in dollars and a 12 percent increase in donors over the previous year.

Participation from student-athletes was also particularly impressive in 2015-2016, with all 148 graduating senior student-athletes making a gift for the first time in school history. Overall, 12 programs established new records for dollars raised, while 10 sports broke the record for the most donors.

“Thanks to the generous support of our alumni, family and friends, the Crusader Athletics Fund reached new heights again this year in support of our student-athletes,” director of athletics Nathan Pine said. “The $1.63-million will be invested into our programs to enhance our student-athletes experiences, and better position our teams and student-athletes for success in all endeavors. Our senior class played a huge role in this record-breaking year, with 100 percent participation by our graduating student-athletes. I am impressed with the devotion they have to our great institution, and would like to thank them and all that contributed to the Crusader Athletics Fund in 2015-2016.”

The Crusader Athletics Fund was established in 2007 and has raised over $9.2 million in total for Holy Cross Athletics since its inception. The Crusader Athletics Fund provides vital resources for coaching, enhanced recruitment, equipment upgrades, facilities improvement, additional team training & travel, among other things.
