  • The Lead:  Boston University handed Holy Cross its first loss of the season as the Terriers defeated the Crusaders 3-0 in Patriot League women's soccer action on Wednesday night at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Boston University took the first scoring opportunity of the game during the 34th minute (33:20) when Erica Kosienski took the initial shot that went into the arms of senior goalie Carly McCabe (Barrington, R.I.). McCabe could not control the ball as Jenna Fisher collected the rebound and launched it into the left corner of the net to give the Terriers the 1-0 lead.
  • The Terriers took the 2-0 lead in the 50th minute (49:40) as Jamie Turchi gathered a loose ball at the top of the box and kicked it into the right-hand corner past the reach of McCabe.
  • In the 57th minute, Turchi crossed the ball to Katherine Lim from the right side of the box. Lim drove the ball into the left side of the net to give Boston University the 3-0 advantage (56:09).  
  • Holy Cross sophomore Claire Malone (Glen Ridge, N.J.) had a chance late in the contest with the header in the 64th minute, but the ball grazed the fingertips of Boston University goalie Alyssa Parisi and went over the net.
 INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • McCabe had four saves for Holy Cross, while Parisi had two saves for the Terriers.
  • Boston University held the advantage in shots on goal (8-2) and total shots (18-3), while Holy Cross led in corner kicks (6-5).

  • The Crusaders continue Patriot League play as they travel to Lafayette on Saturday, Oct. 4 for a 1:00 p.m. start.
