  • Records: Holy Cross (7-0-1); North Dakota State (4-3-0)
  • Location: Worcester, Mass. (Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium)
  • The Lead: Senior co-captain Gina Righini (Salem, N.H.) scored her first goal of the season for Holy Cross as the Crusaders secured the 1-0 victory over North Dakota State in non-conference women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • North Dakota State took the first scoring opportunity in the 16th minute as Lauren Miller shot from inside the box, but the chance was saved by senior goalie Carly McCabe (Barrington, R.I.).
  • Holy Cross had three shots in the 24th and 25th minutes by freshmen Aly Spencer (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Christina Callahan (Newton, Mass.) as well as by junior Annie Galvin (Attleboro, Mass.), but North Dakota State goalie Sierra Bonham stopped all three chances.
  • The Crusaders scored the lone goal in the 28th minute (27:05). Spencer launched a shot from just outside the box that bounced off a Bison defender. Righini corralled the loose ball and lofted a shot into the top right-hand corner of the net off the crossbar to put Holy Cross up 1-0.
  • In the 69th and 70th minutes, Galvin and Spencer took back-to-back shots that were both saved by Bonham.
  • North Dakota State's Anisha Kinnarth took the final shot for the Bison on a break-away chance in the box that was saved by McCabe in the 83rd minute.
