  • The Lead: Holy Cross junior forward Annie Galvin (Attleboro, Mass.) tallied the team's only goal, as the Crusaders tied Army, 1-1, in Patriot League women's soccer action on Wednesday evening at Clinton Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Galvin gave the Crusaders the 1-0 lead in the 43rd minute of action (42:25). She received a pass from freshman forward Alex Weyrauch (Basking Ridge, N.J.) in the middle of the box and converted from two yards out to give Holy Cross the one-goal lead.
  • After the intermission, Army came out on the attack and had four shots in the first three minutes of the second half. The Black Knights capitalized and knotted the score at 1-1 in the 50th minute (49:21), as Hannah Rozzi received a cross from Candace Stewart and launched a shot into the right corner of the net.
  • Over the final 40 minutes of the second half, Army heavily outshot the Crusaders, 12-1, but Holy Cross withstood the attack to force overtime.
  • Crusader freshman forward Aly Spencer (Tewksbury, Mass.) had a chance to end the game in the waning minutes of the first overtime (99:39), as she sent in a shot from 22 yards out, but Army goalkeeper Jordan Cassalia made the save.
  • Army's Carly Katalinic had a shot on goal with 14 seconds left in the second overtime, but Holy Cross senior goalkeeper Carly McCabe (Barrington, R.I.) made the stop to preserve the draw.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • McCabe made a season-high nine saves for Holy Cross, while Cassalia was called upon to make a pair of stops for Army.
  • The Black Knights held the advantage in total shots (30-9), shots on goal (10-4) and corner kicks (16-4).

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • The goal by Galvin was her third of the season and the 10th of her career. She has three goals and three assists in 2014 for nine points, which ranks second on the team.
  • Weyrauch tallied her first collegiate assist and now has two goals and one assist for five points this season.

UP NEXT:

  • Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 25, when it will host Bucknell for a 12:05 p.m. contest.
