Women's Soccer Edged By Quinnipiac, 2-1

Hamden, Conn.-The Holy Cross women's soccer team fell to Quinnipiac, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon in Hamden, Conn. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 2-6 on the season, while the Bobcats improve to 3-3-1.

The Bobcats got on the board first when Leandra Price scored at the 31:49 mark when she was able to beat sophomore goalie Cashel Scanlon (Bethesda, Md.) to the ball, and then placed it into the net off a pass from Jen Hirsch. Quinnipiac extended its lead when Leisl Lissfelt scored off a corner kick from Brittany Lockwood with just 12 seconds remaining in the half.

The Crusaders cut the deficit in half at the 59:16 mark when junior captain Lauren Pereira (Ludlow, Mass.) blasted a shot into the top right corner of the net for her team leading third goal of the season. The assist was given to freshman Casey Boland (Langshorne, Pa.) for her second of the season. Holy Cross was unable to tie the game as Quinnipiac goalie Sarah Lusto made two saves in the second half to clinch the victory.

Holy Cross out shot Quinnipiac, 13-9, while the Bobcats had seven corner kicks to the Crusaders' three.

The Crusaders return to action when they travel to Durham, N.H., to take on the New Hampshire Wildcats on Wednesday, September 21, at 7:00 p.m.
