Holy Cross Field Hockey: Five Things to Watch

WINNING WALSH

Senior Sinead Walsh was named to the Preseason All-Patriot League team, as voted on by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors. The midfielder from Port Elizabeth, South Africa, was an All-Patriot League first team selection at the end of her junior season, in which she scored three goals and earned five assists for 11 points. She has started all 40 games of her collegiate career to date.

FIRE POWER

The Crusaders will return their top point scorers in Walsh and junior forward Sarah Potter, who notched five goals and one assist. Sophomore forward Meggan Fourie had a successful rookie season where she scored four goals, earned two assists and played in all 16 games.

Additionally, the Crusaders return junior goalkeeper Brooke Ross, who started eight games last season.

STATE OF THE ART

This season, the Crusaders will debut their new AstroTurf12 field midway through the season after a series of matchups on the road and at neutral sites. They will also add six high-pressure water cannons to cover the game field, reducing the amount previously used to irrigate the surface by almost 50 percent.
