2025-2026 Holy Cross women’s ice hockey season preview

By Charles Bare

The Holy Cross women’s ice hockey team enters the 2025-2026 season with great aspirations.

The Crusaders finished last year with 10 overall victories, while totaling 25 points in the conference standings.

Both of those numbers were the most since the program began playing in Hockey East.

Holy Cross returns 17 players off of that squad, while welcoming seven freshmen and one transfer to the program.

CAPTAINS READY TO LEAD THE WAY

Junior Emily Crovo will serve as the Crusaders’ captain this season.

She is joined by three assistant captains in senior Brooke Loranger, senior Alexia Moreau and junior Reghan Chadwick.

Crovo, Loranger and Moreau all have leadership experience, as they served as assistant captains for Holy Cross last year.

BRINGING BACK THE TOP LINES

The top six scorers off last season’s team all return, along with three other forward who saw action in every game for the Crusaders.

Crovo leads the way, after totaling a team-best 18 points on six goals and 12 assists a year ago.

Moreau added 14 points on five goals and nine assists in 2024-2025, while Chadwick and senior Charlotte Sonntag both tallied six goals and five assists for 11 points.

They will be joined by junior Lulu Rourke (five goals, four assists, nine points), senior Lane Lewis (six goals, two assists, eight points), sophomore Amanda Aslan (one goal, five assists, six points), junior Manny Gendron (one goal, two assists, three points) and junior Abby Garvin (one goal, one point).

A STOUT DEFENSE

Holy Cross brings back several experienced players on defense, as part of a unit that held the opposition to just 2.09 goals per game last season.

Senior Taylor Cantelon (two goals, three assists, five points), sophomore Hannah Deck (three goals, three assists, six point) and sophomore Kenzee Hope (one goal, four assists, five points) all played in at least 30 games a year ago, and will look to play key roles once again.

Sophomore Sarah Rowe (one goal, one assist, two points) and sophomore Kaitlin Sullivan (one goal, three assists, four points) should also make important contributions, along with sophomore transfer Skyler Sharfman, freshman Anna Billa and freshman Ella Malloy.
