LAST TIME THEY MET: Holy Cross and Rhode Island have not met since the 1988 season, when the Crusaders posted a 49-7 season-opening win over the Rams on Sept. 3 in Worcester. Mark Gallagher’s 62-yard punt return TD opened the scoring for the Crusaders, who built a 28-0 lead by halftime. After a 98-yard passing touchdown by URI early in the third, Holy Cross immediately responded with an 84-yard kick return by Joe Segreti for a touchdown. Segreti would score two more touchdowns in the third quarter for a three-touchdown outing. Holy Cross totaled 477 yards to Rhode Island’s 234 and had a total of eight sacks for a loss of 50 yards.

WITH A WIN, HOLY CROSS WOULD…

Earn its second straight win over a CAA opponent (def. New Hampshire in FCS second round on 12/3/22, 35-19)
Earn its first win in the month of August in program history (0-5 all-time)
Give Dan Curran his first win as head coach of the Holy Cross football program.
