The Holy Cross football team returns from its bye week with a big Patriot League matchup against Lehigh on Saturday, Nov. 9. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. at Fitton Field.

The game will be broadcasted live on ESPN+, with Kevin Gehl, Kevin Shea and Faith Cain on the call.

The Crusaders (4-5, 3-0) remained undefeated in Patriot League action this season with a 34-28 victory at Lafayette on Oct. 26. Holy Cross took an early 21-0 lead before the Leopards stormed back; the Crusader defense held off a potential scoring drive in the final minutes of the fourth quarter to secure the victory. In the win, sophomore Daniel Porto kicked the longest field goal in program history, connecting on a 53-yard attempt en route to winning Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Junior receiver Max Mosey paced the Holy Cross offense with two touchdowns — one receiving, one rushing. He totaled 74 receiving yards and 28 yards on the ground, earning Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week accolades. Sophomore running back Jayden Clerveaux rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown. Senior receiver Justin Shorter totaled 51 receiving yards and scored a touchdown.

Senior safety Curtis Harris-Lopez had a team-high nine tackles, along with a tackle for loss. Senior safety Ryan Ruane finished the game with eight tackles. Sophomore cornerback Eli Thompson had five solo stops, four pass breakups and a tackle for loss.

SERIES HISTORY

This will be the 40th meeting between the Crusaders and the Mountain Hawks on the gridiron, with the all-time series tied at 19-19-1. The teams first met on Nov. 8, 1924 — 100 years and one day before Saturday’s matchup.

LAST TIME THEY MET: The No. 21 Holy Cross football team overcame an early 14-point deficit to earn a 28-24 Patriot League victory over Lehigh on Nov. 4, 2023. Junior running back Jordan Fuller had a career-best 228 rushing yards and scored two touchdowns, breaking the single-season program record with 18 rushing touchdowns on the year. Senior wide receiver Jalen Coker reeled in two touchdowns with 98 receiving yards on the day. Defensively, senior cornerback Terrence Spence pulled down an interception and had a team-high seven tackles. Junior linebacker Frankie Monte finished with six tackles.  The Crusaders recorded 425 yards of offense while holding the Mountain Hawks to 294.
