The Holy Cross Varsity Club will induct six members into its Hall of Fame during its annual induction celebration on Saturday, Nov. 16. Tickets are now on sale for the event.

Leading up to the celebration, we will be spotlighting each of the inductees and their accomplishments as a Crusader and beyond. Today’s featured Hall of Famer is Sam Fregenti ’13 — a standout for the Holy Cross softball program.

FIVE THINGS TO KNOW 

  1. Fregenti was a four-time All-Patriot League (first team, 2010, 2011, 2013; second team, 2012) and three-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selection (2011, 2012 and 2013).
  2. In 2011, she set a school single-season record in home runs (11), RBIs (34) and slugging percentage (.691) as a sophomore. She was also the Patriot League leader in home runs that season.
  3. Fregenti finished her career ranking first all-time at Holy Cross in career home runs (22) and slugging percentage (.569) and still holds those records to this day. She is also currently ranked second all-time in career doubles (38), RBIs (89), walks (62) and batting average (.345) among other top-10 placements in the Crusader record book.
  4. Fregenti joined teammate Camille Trainor as the only softball players in program history to be named to the Patriot League All-Tournament Team in 2011 after helping the Crusaders to the postseason for the first time in eight years.  
  5. She was one of only two softball players in program history to be named to an All-Patriot League team in all four years of their career.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

Over the past four years, Fregenti has been working for the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Recently, she was promoted to the Executive Director of Programs and Operations for the Mental Hygiene Division.
