The No. 5 Holy Cross football team continues its 2023 campaign with a matchup against FBS foe and historic rival Boston College. Kickoff is set for noon on Saturday, Sept. 9 at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

The Crusaders (1-0) kicked off the 2023 season with a 42-20 home victory over Merrimack on Sept. 2. Holy Cross trailed at the half by a 17-14 margin, but outscored the Warriors, 28-3, in the second half to secure the victory.

SERIES HISTORY

This will be the 84th meeting between the Crusaders and the Eagles on the gridiron, with Boston College leading the all-time series 48-32-3. Prior to the most recent matchup in 2018, the schools had not played since the 1986 season, when the Eagles posted a 56-26 victory at Fitton Field. Boston College has won nine straight games in the series since Holy Cross earned a 30-29 victory in Chestnut Hill during the 1978 campaign. From 1944-1986, these historic rivals played in every year but one, when the Crusaders’ 1969 season was canceled due to a hepatitis outbreak. The 83 all-time games played between the schools are the second-most for Holy Cross against any opponent, trailing only Colgate (84 matchups).
