The Crusaders are set to play back-to-back home games in the next four days, facing Bucknell (Oct. 14, 12 p.m.) and Harvard (Oct. 17, 8 p.m.). With Saturday’s contest against Bucknell being Senior Day, we checked in with the senior members of this year’s squad to find out a little more about their time on Mount St. James. Here is what Matt McGonigle, Jack Ostrosky and Evan Walker had to say.

What are your best memories of playing soccer at Holy Cross?
MM: Walking into the locker room and seeing some of my best friends every day, and getting to play the sport I love to play with them.
JO: My best memories of playing soccer at Holy Cross have to be scoring and celebrating in front of my family. They have done so much to help me get to this point and to score for them allows me to pay them back for all they have done.
EW: Away trips for me. Spending a weekend away with the team, watching Prem at the hotels and coming home all exhausted after a win. Memories I will never forget.

What kind of mark do you hope to have left on the program after your career is over?
MM: I hope that everyone who I’ve had the chance to work with across these last five season – coaches, athletic trainers, but most importantly my teammates – will remember me for always working my hardest and always having the best intentions for the team.
JO: After my career here is done I hope to have left a lasting impression of what it means to have been a dedicated and influential member of the team. I want to be someone that can be remembered for my hard work and perseverance throughout my seasons here, who others can look to for inspiration.
EW: I hope that I influenced the mindset of some of the younger kids on the team, to be more positive, resilient and unwavering.

What life lessons have you learned during your time on the team?
MM: Too many to count. Most importantly the ability to put other people’s interests in front of my own. Understanding that fighting for something bigger than yourself is so much more fulfilling than any individual battle.
JO: Being a member of this team I have learned that ups and downs are a constant in life, but I am able to conquer anything in my way. If I work hard and do my best on the field, then I can do it in the future and grow as a person.
EW: That life is bigger than soccer. So much bigger, so much richer, so multifaceted and every aspect – including soccer – makes it a whole. Make the most of every part of it.

What is the best thing about playing soccer at Holy Cross?
MM: Winning. Nothings beats a hard earned win on Linda.
JO: The best thing about playing soccer at Holy Cross is definitely the people. I have met some of my best friends on this team and I will never forget the memories that we have shared along the way.
EW: Competing with and against my teammates at a high level. It makes playing the sport that much more fun.

What will you miss the most after your career is over?
MM: The lads. The wins are always the highlights but the little interactions we have with each other on a daily basis is what really makes this experience so special.
JO: I will miss stepping out onto the pitch and being able to escape everything else. Playing for Holy Cross has been an incredible outlet and joy in my life and something that will be difficult to let go of.
EW: Seeing all my teammates every day. The little conversations, inside jokes, walks. . . I know I am taking it for granted, even though I have reflected on it often.
