THE BASICS:

• The Lead: Holy Cross used four different goal scorers, as it defeated UMass Lowell, 4-2, in non-conference women's soccer action on Tuesday evening at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium.
POSTGAME INTERVIEW WITH DARREN GALLAGHER AND HIGHLIGHTS
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Holy Cross gained the 1-0 lead in the 17th minute (16:06). On a 2-on-1, freshman Stephanie Lund (Walpole, Mass.) sent a pass across the box to the left side where junior Courtney Cohen (Lake Grove, N.Y.) converted from six yards out to give the Crusaders the lead.
• After a UMass Lowell foul in the box, Holy Cross sophomore Emily George (East Montpelier, Vt.) scored on a penalty kick to give the Crusaders the 2-0 lead in the 51st minute (50:54).
• Holy Cross sophomore Christina Callahan (Newton, Mass.) put the Crusaders on top 3-0 in the 59th minute (58:48), as she launched a shot from the left side that redirected off a River Hawk defender and into the back of the net. Cohen sent in the pass from the far left to Callahan who finished from six yards out.
• The Crusaders added their fourth goal of the game in the 69th minute (68:47), as sophomore Allie Neumann (Saddle River, N.J.) found some free space in the middle of the box and ripped a shot over the goalkeeper from 12 yards out to give Holy Cross the 4-0 lead.
• UMass Lowell cut into the deficit with goals in the 76th and 84th minutes, but Holy Cross held on for the 4-2 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Holy Cross freshman goalkeeper Emma Gurchiek (Barrington, R.I.) made two saves in the victory, while UMass Lowell netminder Julia Schneider made seven stops for the visitors.
• The Crusaders held the statistical edge in total shots (16-9), shots on goal (13-4) and corner kicks (2-1).
• Cohen and Callahan each had three shots on goal apiece to lead all players.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• All four Holy Cross goal scorers tallied their first marker of the season.
• The goals for George and Neumann were the first of their respective careers.
• The assist by Lund was her first collegiate point.
• Holy Cross is now 2-0-1 all-time against UMass Lowell.
