STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Freshman midfielder Katherine Donnelly (Londonderry, N.H.) scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner, to lead the Holy Cross women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Wagner at Wagner Stadium. Donnelly now leads the team with four goals scored this season, including three goals in the last two games. The Crusaders earn their first victory of the season and improve to 1-7, while the Seahawks fall to 2-4-1 overall.

Following a scoreless first half, junior forward Shelby Stand (Douglas, Mass.) gave Holy Cross a 1-0 lead at the 49:26-mark on a shot from 20 yards out. Wagner came back to tie the score at 1-1 just over a minute later, when Briana Vassallo knocked home a pass from Dominique Bonura from 10 yards out. Donnelly then gave the Crusaders the lead for good with what proved to be the game-winning goal at the 54:59-mark, with a goal from 15 yards out. At the 59:05-mark, Donnelly added an insurance goal for Holy Cross, putting home a rebound after a shot by freshman midfielder Biz Shenk (Chatham, N.J.).

Junior goalkeeper Jessica Stone (Rockville, Md.) earned the victory for the Crusaders, making four saves while allowing just one goal. Sam Schueschner took the loss for Wagner, allowing three goals and making seven saves.

Holy Cross returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 24, when it plays host to Siena at 7:00 p.m.
