Holy Cross Women's Soccer Falls To Harvard, 2-1

WORCESTER, Mass. - Freshman Katherine Donnelly (Londonderry, N.H.) scored her sixth goal of the season as the Holy Cross women's soccer team fell to Harvard, 2-1, in non-conference action on Monday night. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 3-13 (1-3 Patriot League), while the Crimson improve to 8-3-3 (3-1 Ivy League).

Holy Cross scored first when Donnelly fought off the Harvard defense and chipped the ball into the net at the 18:24 mark. Holy Cross held the Crimson scoreless for the remainder of the half, despite being out shot 12-4.

In the second half, the Crusaders held off the Crimson attack until the 60:16 mark, when Christina Hagner headed the ball into the net off of the corner kick from Melanie Baskind to tie the game, 1-1.

In the 79th minute, at the 78:46 mark, Harvard's Katherine Sheeleigh scored the game-winner after receiving a pass in the box from Erin Wylie, lifting the Crimson to a 2-1 victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Mary Ferketic (West Hartford, Conn.) guarded the goal for the Crusaders, giving up two goals with ten saves and falls to 0-3. Crimson goalkeeper Laura Dale gave up just one goal with only five saves and improves to 4-0-1.

The Crusaders continue Patriot League action on Friday, October 24 when they host American at 3:00 p.m. at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium.
