Women's Basketball to Host Lafayette in Pink Game

The Holy Cross women’s basketball team will host Lafayette in its annual Pink Game on Saturday, February 2 at the Hart Center. Tipoff is set for 1:05 p.m.


Pink Game/National Girls and Women in Sports Day:

  • Holy Cross will host its annual Pink Game on Saturday.
  • The Crusaders will be raffling off gear and team-autographed items, and Holy Cross for the Cure will sell T-shirts at the game.
  • All money raised from the shirts and raffle will go to Pink Revolution, a group that provides services to women fighting breast cancer. 
  • Additionally, the Crusaders will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Saturday.
  • Free face painting and temporary tattoos will be offered to kids attending the game.


Things to Know About the Crusaders (11-9, 3-6):

  • The Crusaders come off a tough loss at American University on Wednesday, January 30, in which the Eagles used a fourth-quarter surge to down Holy Cross, 70-58.
  • Junior Lauren Manis had a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Crusaders. Sophomore Jenay Faulkner chipped in 10 points and freshman Avery LaBarbera had nine points and four assists.
  • Manis now has 15 double-doubles on the year, ranking sixth in Division I in that category. She also ranks sixth in Division I with an average of 9.0 defensive rebounds per game.
  • Holy Cross has posted an 8-2 record at home this season.


Things to Know About the Leopards (7-13, 2-7):

  • Lafayette comes off a tough loss against Boston University on Wednesday, falling 47-44.
  • Olivia Martino led the way for the Leopards, posting 15 points, while Drew Freeland had 11 points. Natalie Kucowski had nine rebounds, eight assists and six assists.
  • Kucowski has been an impressive player for Lafayette this season, leading the Leopards in nearly every major statistical category this year: points per game (13.8), rebounds per game (10.6), assists (60), blocks (43) and steals (31). She ranks in the top 30 nationally in several categories, including rebounds per game (27th) and blocked shots (28th).
  • The Leopards have a 2-7 record on the road in 2018-19.


Last Time They Met:

  • Holy Cross slipped up in a loss earlier this season at Lafayette, falling by a score of 73-63 on January 6.
  • All five starters for Lafayette reached double figures, led by an impressive showing from Kucowski, who had 15 points, 15 rebounds and seven steals.
  • Holy Cross had four players in double figures in the loss. Manis led the way with a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Swords also had 12 points. Junior Kathryn Pedi and freshman Madison Demski chipped in 10 points each, with Demski reaching a career high in points.
