Holy Cross announces 2019-20 men's basketball schedule
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross head men’s basketball coach Brett Nelson has announced the Crusaders’ schedule for the 2019-20 season, which is slated to begin on Nov. 5. The schedule includes 14 games against teams which posted winning records last year, and eight contests against schools which advanced to postseason play in 2018-19. The slate also features a total of 14 regular season home games at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex.
“We are excited to get the season under way and look forward to facing a challenging schedule,” said Nelson. “We will take on some very good programs in non-conference play, and know that those games will help prepare us for everything we will face in the Patriot League.”
The Crusaders’ non-conference slate will be highlighted by a trip to Big Ten power Maryland, in addition to home games with reigning CAA tournament champion Northeastern and defending Ivy League regular season co-champion Harvard. Holy Cross will also take part in the Boca Raton Beach Classic, where it will face Florida Atlantic and San Diego on the road, along with two games in Boca Raton, Fla., against Hofstra and either Canisius or Mercer.
In Patriot League play, Holy Cross will have home-and-home series against each of the nine other teams in the conference. The league schedule will be highlighted by contests against 2019 Patriot League champion Colgate and Turnpike Trophy rival Boston University.
All games in the 2020 Patriot League Tournament will take place on the campus of the higher seeded team. The first round will take place on March 3, followed by the quarterfinals on March 5, the semifinal round on March 8 and the championship game on March 11.
Holy Cross will be entering its first year under Nelson in 2019-20. The Crusaders finished the 2018-19 campaign with an overall record of 16-17.
