Men's basketball adds Joey Reilly to incoming class
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross head men’s basketball coach Brett Nelson announced today that Joey Reilly (Cromwell, Conn.) will attend Holy Cross and play for the Crusaders. Reilly will be one of five players joining the Holy Cross program for the 2019-2020 season.
A 6-foot-0, 170-pound guard, Reilly played at East Catholic High School in Manchester, Conn., for head coach Luke Reilly (his uncle). A two-time Connecticut High School Coaches Association first team all-state selection, he is East Catholic’s all-time leading scorer with 1,828 career points. Reilly averaged 20 points and six assists per game as a senior, while earning player of the year honors from the Hartford Courant. He led East Catholic to a pair of state championships in 2019 (Division I) and 2016 (Class L), three Central Connecticut Conference titles and an overall four-year record of 104-7. Reilly also played AAU ball for the Middlesex Magic.
“We are really excited to have Joey join our basketball family here at Holy Cross,” said Nelson. “He is skilled and tough, but most importantly he is winner who makes everyone around him better.”
Holy Cross will be entering its first year under Nelson in 2019-2020. The Crusaders finished the 2018-2019 campaign with an overall record of 16-17.
