Men's Tennis Ready for Lafayette in Patriot League First Round
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men’s tennis team is set to take on Lafayette in the First Round of the Patriot League Tournament this Thursday, April 18, at Army in West Point, N.Y.
The Crusaders enter the tournament as the nine seed and will take on the eighth-seeded Leopards. The winner of this match will move on to face the top overall seed, Navy, in Friday’s quarterfinal.
Holy Cross has already faced Lafayette once this year, losing 4-3, in a tightly contested match. The Crusaders earned victories at No. 1 and No. 5 singles thanks to Will Chen and Henry Harrs respectively. They also took a point from doubles competition when Chen and Alexander Ruenhorst won No. 2 doubles and Harrs and Matthew Murphy took No. 3.
The Leopards got points from Nos. 2, 3, 4, and 6 singles. If Holy Cross can flip one of those losses into a win, the Crusaders could be looking at a postseason victory and a meeting with Navy in the quarterfinals.
