Holy Cross Places Eighth at Gary Freeman Invitational
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Freshman John Bowen finished in a tie for 35th place as an individual, to lead the Holy Cross men’s golf team to an eighth-place finish out of 16 schools in the Gary Freeman Invitational at the LPGA International. Bowen totaled a 235 over three rounds to finish at 19-over par.
Senior Joe Egan tied for 44th place overall with a 237, while senior Jake Peer tied for 49th with a 238. In addition, sophomore Harrison Thayer tied for 51st with a 239 and freshman Collin Fitzpatrick tied for 70th with a 245.
Augusta University won the team title with a three-round total of 878, w¬¬hile Holy Cross totaled 939. McCullough Pickens of Augusta was the individual medalist after finishing at even par (216).
The Crusaders return to action when they take part in the Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational at the Steel Club in Hellertown, Pa., from March 31-April 1.
