Football Team Concludes Spring Drills
WORCESTER, Mass. – The offense posted a 42-31 victory over the defense as the Holy Cross football team played its annual spring game at Kuzniewski Field. Junior wide receiver Tenio Ayeni led the offense with three receptions for 76 yards and two touchdowns, while senior defensive back Macklin Kortebein posted an interception, two tackles and two pass breakups for the defense.
Along with any traditional points scored, the offense received two points for an explosive play over 20 yards and one point for a first down. The defense received four points for a turnover, two points for a sack and one point for a three-and-out.
The game also included a pair of one-on-one challenges between skill position players, and a big man punt catching competition. The defense won two of the challenges, worth five points each, while the third contest ended in a tie.
Prior to the game, the Crusaders held a fan fest and free kids' clinic at the Hart Turf Field. The team then held a postgame autograph session at the end of the day.
Holy Cross has now concluded spring practice, and is scheduled to open the 2019 season when it travels to Navy on Aug. 31.
