Men's Hockey's 2019-20 Slate Set
WORCESTER, Mass. - Head Holy Cross men’s hockey coach David Berard has announced the team’s schedule for the 2019-20 season. The Crusaders’ slate features 34 games, including 18 regular season home games and two exhibition games at the Hart Center. The Holy Cross schedule features five 2019 NCAA Tournament teams in the upcoming season along with an eight-game homestand beginning in January.
“We are very excited about our 2019-20 schedule,” said Berard. “Highlighting our schedule are six games against teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament last year, including hosting Quinnipiac and Arizona State at home. We will also be playing Frozen Four participant Providence, Northeastern and AIC on the road. We are excited to host the U.S. National Team Development Program Under-18s on the Hill in October for the first time ever in an exhibition game. It is our philosophy to play the most competitive schedule that we can in order to challenge ourselves against the best teams in college hockey, raise the profile of our program and best prepare us for playoffs. We look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead this season!”
The Crusaders will open the season with four non-conference games and two exhibition games. To officially kick off the season, Holy Cross will play at Providence, who made it to the Frozen Four in the 2019 season, on Oct. 11. To open the Hart Center, the Crusaders will host Hockey East opponent, Merrimack, on Oct. 17.
Atlantic Hockey action will begin with a road series at RIT (Nov. 1-2), followed by a home-and-home with Sacred Heart (Nov. 7-8), and a home series with Army (Nov. 15-16).
Holy Cross will close out the first half of the season with a home-and-home with Bentley (Nov. 29-30), a trip to Colorado Springs to face Air Force (Dec. 6 - Dec. 7), and a road series at Canisius (Dec. 28-29).
The Crusaders will begin the new year by hosting Mercyhurst on Jan. 3 and 4 and another trip to Buffalo to take on Niagara on Jan. 10-11.
On Jan. 17, the Crusaders will host NCAA Tournament participant Quinnipiac to start an eight-game home stretch. In that time, Holy Cross will play Air Force (Jan. 24-25), RIT (Jan. 31-Feb. 1), NCAA Tournament participant Arizona State (Feb. 7), and Robert Morris (Feb. 14-15).
