Men's Track and Field Competes on Day One of New England Championships

 BOSTON – The Holy Cross men’s track and field team competed at Day One of the New England Championships, hosted at the Reggie Lewis Center on Friday, February 1.

In his first four events of the heptathlon, senior Alexander Escada ran season bests in three; he placed second in the long jump with a leap of 6.54 meters, sixth in the 60 meter dash (7.41 seconds), sixth in the shot put (11.44 meters) and eighth in the high jump (1.74 meters).

Junior Freddie Halloran placed 17th in the prelims of the 500 meters, running a time of 1:06.45.

Sophomore Michael Pichay was 17th in the long jump, posting a mark of 6.59 meters.

Freshman Will Hornyak was 19th in the 800 meters (1:58.99), while rookie Corey Kumamoto placed 21st (1:59.93).

The New England Championships will conclude on Saturday, February 2.
