Piepergerdes Leads Men's Track and Field at IC4A Championships

PRINCETON, New Jersey – Sophomore Gabe Piepergerdes ran the second-fastest time in Holy Cross men’s track and field history as he won the 400 meter hurdles at the IC4A Championships, hosted on Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Piepergerdes finished in a time of 52.97 seconds to earn the victory, becoming the first individual IC4A champion from Holy Cross in nearly 50 years; he fell just short of his own school record in the event, which he set at the Patriot League Championships on May 4 in a time of 52.61 seconds.
  • Sophomore Michael Pichay placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 14.57 meters.
  • Senior Brandon Thornhill finished 14th in the prelims of the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.04 seconds.
  • The Crusaders finished with 15 points as a team, the most on the men’s side at an IC4A Championship in nearly 50 seasons, to place 21st out of 45 teams.
