Men's Golf Finishes 11th at Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational
HELLERTOWN, Pa. – Senior Joe Egan finished in a tie for 18th place as an individual, to lead the Holy Cross men’s golf team to an 11th-place finish out of 20 schools in the Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational at the Steel Club. Egan totaled a 148 over two rounds to finish at four-over par.
Freshman Collin Fitzpatrick and senior Jake Peer both tied for 33rd place overall with scores of 151, while sophomore Harrison Thayer tied for 64th with a 156. In addition, sophomore Connor Phillips tied for 69th with a 158.
Robert Morris won the team title with a two-round total of 585, while Holy Cross totaled 605. Chris Tanabe of Bucknell was the individual medalist after finishing at three-under par (141).
The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, April 13, when they take part in the Columbia Invitational at the Montclair Golf Club in West Orange, N.J.
BEYOND THE RESULTS:
- Egan shot an even-par 72 in the opening round, the lowest 18-hole score for any Crusader during the tournament.
- Peer had Holy Cross’ top score in round two with a one-over par 73.
- The tournament was played in very cold and blustery conditions.
