Degenhardt & Bucceroni Honored by the Patriot League
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross junior quarterback Connor Degenhardt and senior defensive lineman Kevin Bucceroni have been honored by the Patriot League for their performances in Saturday’s 21-14 victory at Bucknell. Degenhardt was selected as the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, while Bucceroni was chosen as the Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week.
In the Bucknell game, Degenhardt hit on 19 of 34 passes for a career-high 276 yards and a score. He also added a pair of rushing touchdowns, including the game-winning score on a one-yard run to break a 14-14 tie in the third quarter. Overall this season, Degenhardt has completed 79 of 152 passes for 945 yards and two touchdowns.
Bucceroni made one of the biggest plays during the win over the Bison, blocking a field goal attempt with 11:05 left in the third quarter and the score tied at 14-14. His blocked field goal gave the Crusaders possession at their own 34-yard line to set up the game-winning touchdown drive. On the year, Bucceroni currently has 13 total tackles, one sack and one blocked kick.
The Crusaders (2-3 overall, 1-0 Patriot League) return to action on Saturday, Oct. 12, when they travel to Brown for a 12:30 p.m. game.
