Corey Stefanik named ckSmithSuperior Crusader of the Week
WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior defensive back Corey Stefanik has been named the ckSmithSuperior Crusader of the Week, for competition from September 30-October 6. Stefanik helped lead the Holy Cross football team to a 21-14 victory at Bucknell on Saturday.
During the win over the Bison, Stefanik totaled seven tackles and two fumble recoveries. His first fumble recovery came late in the first quarter, to stop a Bucknell drive at the Holy Cross 41-yard line. Stefanik later recovered a fumble with 0:21 left in the third quarter at the Crusader 32-yard line with Holy Cross clinging to a seven-point lead. He was a key part of a Crusader defense that held the Bison to just 297 total yards on the day.
Overall this season, Stefanik has totaled 28 tackles, a quarterback sack, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. During his career with the Crusaders, he now has 117 tackles, four sacks, nine tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
The Crusaders (2-3 overall, 1-0 Patriot League) return to action on Saturday, Oct. 12, when they travel to Brown for a 12:30 p.m. game.
