Doran & Ng honored by the Patriot League

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross sophomore linebacker Liam Doran and sophomore placekicker Derek Ng have been honored by the Patriot League for their performances in Saturday’s 13-10 victory over New Hampshire. Doran was selected as the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for the first time, while Ng was chosen as the Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time in his career.

In the New Hampshire game, Doran posted five tackles, one tackle for loss and a forced fumble. With 2:02 remaining in the fourth quarter, he forced a fumble in the Wildcats’ end zone that was recovered by the Crusaders for the go-ahead touchdown. On the season, Doran is tied for fourth on the team with 10 total tackles

Ng scored seven points against the Wildcats, hitting field goals of 28 and 20 yards in addition to connecting on his only extra point attempt. He also punted three times for 96 yards with a long of 47 yards. On the season, Ng leads the team in scoring with eight points, hitting two of three field goal attempts and both of his extra points

The Crusaders (1-1 overall) return to action on Saturday, Sept. 21, when they travel to Yale for a 1:00 p.m. game.
