Football Names 2019 Team Captains

WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior running back Domenic Cozier and senior defensive back Chris Riley will serve as the captains of the 2019 Holy Cross football team, as announced by head coach Bob Chesney.

Cozier was named second team All-Patriot League in 2018, after playing in 10 games at tailback with eight starts. He led the team in rushing with 643 yards and eight touchdowns on 130 carries, while catching 12 passes for 114 yards and a score. Cozier finished the year ranked third in the Patriot League in rushing and scoring, and fifth in all-purpose yards. Over the course of his Holy Cross career, he has carried the ball 219 times for 1,078 yards and 11 touchdowns, in addition to making 25 receptions for 194 yards and a score.

Riley played in all 11 of the Crusaders’ games last year with three starts at free safety. He led the team with three interceptions on the season, to rank fifth in the Patriot League. Riley also totaled 30 tackles and three pass breakups on the year. Over the course of his collegiate career, he has recorded 58 tackles, three interceptions and four pass breakups, while playing in 21 games with seven starts.

The Crusaders will open the 2019 season when they travel to Navy for a 3:30 p.m. game on Saturday, Aug. 31.
