Crusaders Post 3.24 Spring Semester GPA
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross student-athletes recently wrapped up another successful semester in the classroom, posting a cumulative 3.24 grade point average during the 2019 spring term. This marks the 15th-straight semester that the department has combined to post a GPA of at least 3.10, while 26 varsity programs achieved a term GPA of 3.00 or higher.
“At one of the nation’s elite academic institutions, our Crusaders show, time and time again, that they are committed to excellence and achievement as true scholar-athletes,” director of athletics Marcus Blossom said. “Their dedication is inspiring, and their ability to meet the demands of being Division I athletes while consistently attaining academic success can’t be overstated. Congratulations to all our student-athletes – as well as the faculty, coaches and staff that support their efforts – on a tremendous academic year.”
The women’s soccer team led the way with a department-high 3.61 GPA, followed by softball’s 3.46 and field hockey’s 3.45. Men’s golf and men’s ice hockey tied for the highest GPA among men’s teams with identical 3.37s. In total, 224 student-athletes earned spots on the Dean’s List by posting a GPA of 3.50 or higher. Of those, 18 Crusaders finished the semester with a perfect 4.00.
Earlier this year, 18 of Holy Cross’ teams received NCAA Academic Progress Rate Public Recognition awards, tying for the most out of all Division I institutions in the nation. In addition, 388 Holy Cross student-athletes were named to their respective league’s academic honor roll for the 2018-19 year.
