Baseball Earns 16 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll Selections
Sixteen members of the Holy Cross baseball team were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll for Winter/Spring 2018-2019, the conference announced on Monday, June 24.
Senior right-handed pitcher Declan Cronin (history), who was named to the Patriot League All-Academic team in May, led the Crusaders with a 3.93 grade-point average during the spring semester, earning his fourth consecutive Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selection. He is one of just 10 Crusaders in program history to be named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll four times. Sophomore right-handed pitcher Liam Dvorak (physics) and junior center fielder Austin Masel (economics), both of whom were also named to the Patriot League All-Academic team, earned honor roll selections as well.
Senior right-handed pitcher Pat McGowan (psychology) earned his second career selection to the Academic Honor Roll. Right-handed pitcher Zane Hedaya (economics), infielder Chris Rinaldi (psychology) and infielder Alex Volpi (political science) received selections from the junior class; Volpi has been named to the honor roll in three consecutive seasons.
Along with Dvorak, infielder Evan Blum (economics), outfielder David Kale (psychology), right-handed pitcher Garret Keough (economics/political science) and infielder Andrew Selima (mathematics) represented the sophomore class.
Five freshmen earned their first career selection to the honor roll: left-handed pitcher Matt Clarkin (economics), catcher Angelo D’Acunto (undeclared), right-handed pitcher Nick Escoto (economics), left-handed pitcher Frank Spano (undeclared) and infielder Liam Sullivan (undeclared).
A total of 91 baseball student-athletes were named to the Winter/Spring 2018-2019 Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a GPA of 3.2 or higher during the spring semester.
