Women's Soccer Announces Captains for 2019 Season
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross head women’s soccer coach Casey Brown has announced the team’s captains for the upcoming 2019 season. Rising seniors Kelly Crowley, Carly Flahive, and Samantha Peters will lead the Crusaders next year.
“I am so pleased to announce Carly, Sam and Kelly as the next captains of our program,” Brown said. “The leadership on this team as a whole has grown immensely over the past year with these three rising to the top. All three of them bring a relentless passion for this program and their teammates. They model the high standards we set for our program and epitomize what it means to be a Holy Cross Women's Soccer player.”
Crowley has played in 47 games with the Crusaders and has recorded three goals and two assists for eight points over that time. During her junior campaign, she scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Loyola in a 1-0 win on Senior Day. She was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts.
Flahive has played in 50 games, starting over half of them including all 17 from last season. She has scored five goals and assisted on four others for a total of 14 points. She had her first multi-goal game this season when she scored twice in a win over St. Peter’s. Like Crowley, she was also named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week for the performance.
A starter since her sophomore season, Peters has played in 39 games as a Crusader, getting the start in 33 of them. This last season she recorded her first career point with an assist at Hartford. As a mainstay in Holy Cross’ back line these past two season, Peters has helped the defense allow just 1.38 goals per game.
“The past semester in particular, Carly, Sam, and Kelly have all really honed their leadership skills, fully equipping them for this role,” Brown said. “We are really excited to have them provide the leadership we need to bring our program to new heights.”
