LOWELL, Mass. – The Holy Cross women’s lacrosse team was defeated at UMass Lowell on Feb. 27. 15-5. The Crusaders saw five different goal scorers with three players earning their first point of the season. Holy Cross drops to 1-3 and UMass Lowell improves to 1-4.

 

The River Hawks started the scoring just 37 seconds into the game and took a 2-0 lead. The Crusaders battled back to score three straight goals. Molly Pfaff scored on a free position shot, followed by Shannon Dudeck, both tallying their first goals of the season. Izzy Grant put Holy Cross ahead at 18:44, 3-2.

 

UMass Lowell scored four goals in just over three minutes to take a 6-3 lead. Keely Connors tallied her first of the day to stop the River Hawk run and finish the first half scoring, 6-4.

 

Lowell increased their lead to 8-4 with two goals in one minute. Jolie Creo capped of the Crusader scoring at five, at the 19:41 mark of the second half. The River Hawks scored seven goals to close the game and win, 15-5.

 

NOTES & NUMBERS:

  • The River Hawks outshot the Crusaders, 27-20.
  • Holy Cross grabbed 10 of 22 draw controls, eight of which were picked up by Keely Connors.
  • Holy Cross had 18 turnovers to Lowell’s 20.
  • Juliana Kubler started in goal and made five saves in 32 minutes of action. Sophie Ochs played 27 minutes and recorded four saves.
