Holy Cross to Support Ava Roy Fund During Basketball Doubleheader
On Feb. 13, Holy Cross Athletics will team up with Worcester’s first responders to support the Ava Roy Fund, donating 20 percent of all regularly priced tickets sold for Wednesday’s basketball doubleheader.
The Ava Roy Fund was created to provide support for the 9-year-old daughter of fallen Worcester firefighter Christopher Roy, who died in the line of duty on December 9.
Wednesday’s women’s game against Navy – which serves as part of the department’s Military and First Responders Appreciation Initiative – begins at 5:05 p.m. and will be followed by the men’s game against Colgate at 7:35 p.m.
All active or retired military personnel and all first responders can receive free admission to the women’s basketball game and can purchase half-priced tickets for family and friends.
Holy Cross will also welcome the Worcester Police Department and Worcester Fire Department to face off in a friendly basketball game at halftime of the women’s contest.
Additional donations to the Ava Roy Fund can be made at avaroyfund.com.
