Holy Cross Set to Face Army West Point
The Holy Cross men’s basketball team returns home to face Army West Point at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6. This will be Military Appreciation Night and First Responders Night, with all active military service members, veterans, local police, EMS and firefighters receiving free admission. The contest between the Crusaders and the Black Knights will be televised live by Charter TV3 and the Patriot League Network, and can be heard live on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester.
Holy Cross stands 12-11 overall this year with a 3-7 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders have lost seven of their last nine games, including a 66-49 setback at American on Saturday. Holy Cross currently leads the Patriot League in assists (16.4 assists per game), turnover margin (+3.4 turnovers per game) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.5-to-1).
Sophomore guard Jacob Grandison has led the team by averaging 14.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game, while sophomore guard Austin Butler has added 13.2 points, 4.5 boards and 1.4 steals per contest. Sophomore forward Jehyve Floyd has put up 11.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.3 blocks per game, with sophomore guard Caleb Green posting 11.0 points, 3.3 assists and 2.9 boards per contest.
Army stands 11-12 overall this year with a 6-4 mark in Patriot League play. The Black Knights have lost their last two games, and were defeated by Lehigh 75-70 in their last game on Saturday.
Junior center Matt Wilson has led the team by averaging 13.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, while hitting 58.3 percent of his field goal attempts. Junior guard Tommy Funk has added 12.0 points, 6.2 assists and 3.5 boards per contest, and senior guard Jordan Fox is chipping in with 9.6 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. Army is led by head coach Jimmy Allen, who stands 37-48 in three seasons with the Black Knights.
After the contest with Army, the Crusaders will travel to Lafayette for a 12:00 p.m. game on Sunday, Feb. 10.
