Crusaders Come Home to Face Lehigh
The Holy Cross men’s basketball team returns home this week to face Lehigh on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 7:05 p.m. The game between the Crusaders and the Mountain Hawks will be shown live on the Patriot League Network, and can be heard on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester.
Holy Cross stands 10-5 overall this year with a 1-1 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders have won nine of their last 12 games, but are coming off a 50-48 setback at Navy on Sunday. Holy Cross leads the Patriot League in scoring defense (65.3 points per game), assists (17.4 assists per game), blocked shots (3.9 blocks per game), turnover margin (+3.3 turnovers per game) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.5-to-1).
Sophomore guard Jacob Grandison has led the team by averaging 15.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game, while sophomore guard Austin Butler has added 12.3 points and 4.0 boards per contest. Four other Crusaders are averaging at least six points, led by sophomore guard Caleb Green (11.3 points per game).
Lehigh stands 9-4 overall this year with a 2-0 mark in Patriot League play. The Mountain Hawks have won two straight and four of their last five contests, but stand just 3-4 in road games. As a team, Lehigh has hit 46.7 percent of its three-point field goal attempts this season.
Junior forward Pat Andree has led the team by averaging 15.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, while making 50.0 percent of his shots from the floor. Senior guard Kyle Leufroy (14.5 points per game), senior guard Lance Tejada (12.7 points per game) and junior guard Jordan Cohen (11.6 points per game) are also scoring in double figures for the Mountain Hawks. Lehigh is led by head coach Brett Reed, who stands 207-149 in 12 seasons with the Mountain Hawks.
After the contest with Lehigh, the Crusaders will play host to Lafayette on Saturday, Jan. 12, at 3:05 p.m.
