Brady & Dorsey Selected to FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Senior linebacker Ryan Brady and senior wide receiver Martin Dorsey, members of the Holy Cross football team, have been selected to the 2018 Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association Academic All-Star team. A total of 47 student-athletes from schools around the nation earned spots on this year’s team.

Brady was previously named All-New England, All-ECAC, All-Patriot League and Academic All-Patriot League this year. He started all 11 of the Crusaders’ games at linebacker in 2018 and led the team with 121 total tackles, including 90 solo stops, two quarterback sacks and 15 tackles for loss. Brady also recorded three fumble recoveries, two pass breakups, a forced fumble and a safety. He finished the season ranked first in the Patriot League in both tackles and fumble recoveries, while standing eighth in tackles for loss. Over the course of his career with the Crusaders, Brady totaled 258 tackles, eight sacks and 29 tackles for loss. In the classroom, he carries a cumulative grade point average of 3.43 with a major in political science.

Dorsey was selected to the All-Patriot League team this season, after starting all 11 of the Crusaders’ games at wide receiver. He led the team with 52 receptions for 663 yards and seven touchdowns, while his 42 points scored were the third-most on the team. Dorsey led the Patriot League in touchdown catches, while ranking third in both receptions and receiving yards, and seventh in scoring. Over the course of his Holy Cross career, he caught 96 passes for 1,259 yards and 10 touchdowns. In the classroom, Dorsey owns a cumulative grade point average of 3.35 with a major in sociology.

The FCS ADA All-Star team consists of players with a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) in undergraduate study, who are also starters or key players with legitimate athletic credentials. A special review committee of Football Championship Subdivision athletics directors was responsible for selecting the Academic All-Star team.

Holy Cross concluded the 2018 season with an overall record of 5-6, and tied for second in the Patriot League with a 4-2 mark in conference games.
