Barnes Named Academic All-Patriot League

WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore Jenna Barnes of the Holy Cross women’s soccer team has been named to the Academic All-Patriot League team, as announced by the league on Wednesday.

To be eligible for the for the Academic All-Patriot League team, a player must possess a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20 and be a starter or key reserve in his or her sport.

Barnes is receiving the honor for the first time in her career. She was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll last year as a freshman. A chemistry major with a 3.97 GPA, she started all 17 games for the Crusaders this season. Barnes registered one goal and two assists for four points, bringing her career total to two goals and three assists for seven points. She scored the lone goal for Holy Cross in a loss to American and recorded the assist on the game-winner in double overtime to beat Army on Oct. 21.

The Crusaders ended their season in a four-way tie for the fifth seed in the Patriot League playoffs with the top six teams qualifying. They unfortunately lost out based on tiebreakers.

The voting for the All-Academic squad is done by the League’s women’s soccer sports information directors, who could not vote for their own student-athletes.
