Shayne Lynch Named Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach
“I am thrilled to announce and welcome coach Shayne Lynch to the Holy Cross men’s lacrosse program,” said Burke. “I am excited to have Shayne join our staff, and to be able to work with him as we strive to continue building upon the program’s great culture and success on and off the field. Shayne will be a pivotal asset to the team as our defensive coordinator. He brings a wealth of great experience, knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm as a coach that will positively impact our culture and shared vision for the program.”
Lynch comes to Holy Cross after spending the last four seasons as the Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS) head coach and assistant athletic director. In his first two seasons at NAPS, Lynch recorded a 17-8 record. He focused on player development and coached 24 members of the Navy men’s lacrosse team. Lynch also devoted time to retention and recruitment for the NAPS program, strength and conditioning, and academic coordination.
“Thank you for the opportunity to be joining the Holy Cross men’s lacrosse program,” said Lynch. “I am very excited to get to work and to help support the culture of the program, and to continue to build upon the team’s success this season.”
Prior to his time at NAPS, Lynch also served as an assistant coach for Washington College and 3D Lacrosse New England. At Washington College, Lynch was a part of the staff that took the team to the Division III Final Four and an 18-2 record.
Lynch is a 2011 graduate of Wesley College, where he received his bachelor’s degree in sports management. At Wesley, Lynch was a four-year letter winner and served as a team captain in the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Lynch also earned the Dave Reynolds Award in three-consecutive seasons (2007 – 2009) and the Eric Potts Award in 2010.
