Maddy Norton is currently in her third season at Holy Cross as an assistant women’s ice hockey coach in 2018-2019.
Norton came to Holy Cross in 2016 after spending the two previous seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Franklin Pierce, as the Ravens went 37-14-2 overall during that span.
Joining Franklin Pierce in 2014, Norton primarily focused on defense during practices and games, while keeping active in recruiting and evaluating on-ice performance. She managed the penalty kill during the 2015-2016 season.
In addition to creating and coordinating the preseason, in-season and post-season workouts, Norton’s roles at Franklin Pierce also involved tagging and breaking down game video and updating the team’s social media accounts.
Prior to Franklin Pierce, Norton began her coaching experience during the summertime, where she worked with youth hockey teams while serving as a Hockey Camp Counselor for both Chelsea Piers in Stamford, Conn. (2012 and 2013) and Dynamic Skating in North Andover, Mass. (2008).
Norton was a four-year member of the Union College women’s ice hockey team from 2010-2014, serving as team captain during her junior and senior seasons. As a senior, she led the team with 21 points and was ranked near the top of the nation in power play assists and blocked shots.
As a Dutchwoman, Norton also earned honors including All-ECAC Hockey Academic Selection (2011-2013), Rookie of the Year in 2011 and the Hana Yamashita Coaches Award in 2014.
Norton holds an M.B.A. in Human Resource Management from Franklin Pierce and a Bachelor of Arts in American History from Union.
