Men's tennis opens season with 7-0 win over Clark

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men’s tennis team opened its season with a 7-0 shutout win over Clark Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Will Chen, Alexander Ruenhorst, Robert Hagan, and Declan O’Flynn all won their singles matches in straight sets. Chen took No. 1 singles 6-2, 7-5, Ruenhorst won No. 3 6-1, 6-1, Hagan at No. 4 with a 6-0, 6-0 win, and O’Flynn at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-4.
  • Will Kaiser and Connor Nelson went the full three sets but still came out victorious. Kaiser won No. 2 singles 2-6, 6-2, 10-5, and Nelsonat No. 4 with a 4-6, 6-1, 10-3 win.
  • Chen and Ruenhorst teamed up to take No. 1 doubles 6-2. Kaiser and Nelson won No. 2 doubles 6-3. O’Flynn and Hagan completed the sweep at No. 3 with a 6-2.

The Crusaders will take part in the two-day Siena Invitational beginning tomorrow, Sept. 6 at 9:00 a.m.
