The Holy Cross baseball team will head to the University of Rhode Island for a midweek nonconference matchup on Wednesday, April 10. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Kingston, Rhode Island.

Things to Know About the Crusaders (9-24):

  • Holy Cross played a three-game Patriot League series at Navy, winning the matchup on Sunday, April 7 by a score of 4-1.
  • Sophomore designated hitter Evan Blum went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI in the matchup. Junior shortstop Chris Rinaldi was 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of RBI.
  • Blum has reached base in 15 consecutive games, hitting .341 with five doubles and 10 RBI during that stretch.
  • Junior Austin Masel is on a five-game hitting streak and has gone 10-for-19 (.526) with seven RBI in that span.
  • Sophomore right-handed pitcher Liam Dvorak continued his hot stretch with a 7.1-inning outing against Navy in which he allowed just one run and seven hits while striking out eight. He is now 3-0 in conference play and has won his last four appearances.
  • Sophomore Eric Lopes had his third career save after pitching the final 1.2 innings against the Midshipmen. He has allowed no runs and just one hit in his last six appearances.
  • The Crusaders are in the midst of an eight-game road stretch.

 

Things to Know About the Rams (14-14):

  • Rhode Island is on a three-game winning streak, most recently sweeping Richmond in a weekend series to improve to 7-2 in the Atlantic-10 Conference.
  • Outfielder Max Mircovich leads the Rams with a .327 average, five doubles and nine RBI. Outfielder Austin White is close behind, hitting .326 with four doubles, two triples and seven RBI.
  • In 32.0 innings pitched this year, righty Ryan Twitchell has posted a 1.69 ERA with 24 strikeouts.
  • As a team, the Rams are hitting .254, while URI’s staff has posted a team ERA of 4.40 on the season.
  • Rhode Island has won six of its last seven games.
